climbing psychology
Author: kevin roet
'The Climbing Psychology book uses the latest in sports psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, scientific research and the author’s own experiences to explain a complicated subject.'
It is a complicated subject and I think I've read all the previous attempts at tackling this area. Like all areas of psychology theory and real world practice can feel like two very different worlds. Kevin does a great job of bringing them together in a very useful way.
It is a very practical guide and Kevin's years as an instructor are clearly on show, making the structure and exercises you follow feel very achievable and logical. You know how and when to progress.
Not only that the principles and explanations provided in the book are reenforced by a clinical psychologist giving you the confidence you have an effective approach.
I have read and used this book myself, applying the principles in my own climbing and in reducing anxiety in clients returning from injury.

Mat Wright
Online coach
Mat is the complete modern coach. He's been there and done it (9a, E11, V15) but has a great theoretical knowledge of training, tactics and psychology underpinning that.
I have worked with him with some of his clients and was very impressed with his approach. He prioritises consistency through load management and individualisation. A recent study suggested that 93% of climbing injuries are over use related. With Mat you will get what you need to succeed and nothing more. This reduces your injury risk and leaves you with the energy to put into your climbing and reap the rewards.
The latest science mixed with experience, a person centred, individualised, approach and a true passion for helping you achieve.
If you want a training plan that will fit to your life, continue to give results over the long-term and with lots of additional support, Mat's your man.

John kettle
Author, coach and guide
It's hard to know where to start with John. His book 'Rock Climbing Technique' is a best seller because it's the best text out there on the subject.
His coaching experience is vast, he's got ALL the qualifications, but it's his approach to always wanting to be better and learn more that impresses me the most.
He won't give you the answer, he'll guide you to discover the answer for yourself. A much richer and more worthwhile approach I have been through myself.
